FINAL DAY #7

Today was our last full day here in San Ignacio, Belize; but it was an epic day. We started out visiting the Mayan Ruins which were gorgeous, and the view was phenomenal. we got to see some black iguanas in their natural habitat; also we saw some monkeys; after climbing to the top of the ruins we went back down, loaded in the van and headed back for a yummy lunch. After lunch we loaded back up, and went to an incredible Iguana enclosure, some were scared of them  and spiders not mentioning any names. the oldest one living in the enclosure is 4 1/2 years old we got to hold them, feed them and let them climb on our backs. After that fun experience we went to a place called Ajaw Chocolate, they showed us the original Mayan way to make chocolate we even got to take some home with us. After those fun trips we got ready for dinner, last time eating at the Mayan Prince restaurant was as good as ever, still didn't find out what type of meat they served us but it was good either way. Friday we will get up earlier and say our goodbyes and farewells, most of us are headed back home, but three of us are staying a little longer on Caye Caulker Island.

Day #6

(this post is for Wednesday, I am posting this on Thursday because we got back late last night and didn't want to wake anyone up.) Last day of clinic was Wednesday, kinda sad. Not as many people were served, about 88 we gave glasses to. A few of us went on a prayer walk, walking around the area asking people if we could pray for them and bless their home, all except one let us into their homes to pray and tell them about the clinic. Eye glass clinic closed about 4:30 pm, got back to our hotel, some of us went to walk through town again. Dinner was right at 6 pm as usual, the Mayan Prince restaurant served us with some fajitas which were giant sized and delicious. We are all ready for a fun day today of hoping to explore the Mayan ruins, go to a chocolate factory and see some iguanas.

Day #5

Day 3 of clinic was today, lots of fun, handed out 141 pairs of glasses, and served 106 people. The peoples faces are priceless every time the dispensers give them their glasses. we got to stop by the smoothie place that was closed the previous day, about 3/4 of us chose the Pina-Colada smoothie. We got back to the hotel around 4:40ish and waited till dinner. Dinner was served at the Mayan Prince restaurant again, and it tasted great. We all need to rest up for our last day of clinic tomorrow.

Day #4

Second day of the eyeglass clinic today, just as amazing as the first, again witnessing how wonderful it is to see the look in the peoples eyes as they put on their glasses and can see their surroundings clearer. we served 132 people and handed out 190 pairs of glasses. After our clinic work, we stopped at a local ice cream shop and ate some delicious, cold ice cream. We ate dinner at a place called the Mayan Prince Restaurant, we were served with mashed potatoes, BBQ chicken, salad, and a yummy piece of chocolate cake for dessert. we had devotions and got organized for our 3rd day of clinic tomorrow.

DAY #2

Yummy breakfast starting at 8 am, loaded the bus to head to our first day of the Eyeglass Clinic mission work; it was a warm day, thank God we had air conditioning. It was amazing seeing the people here in Belize see for the first time in awhile. We closed up at around 3 pm today because Saturdays in Belize is Market day for the people. We decided to join the people in Market day and did some shopping. The rest of us that stayed in the town area went back around 4:30 pm and get ready for a delicious dinner. Following dinner we had our devotion time and introduced ourselves. Our team has a variety of places we come from, California, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. We had a great day today and need some rest for the Lords day tomorrow.
